Description

Handling Pack 5 (Clubsport) introduces coilovers alongside comprehensive chassis upgrades to transform your M2 / M2 Competition into a track-ready machine.

Handling Pack 5 (Clubsport) includes:

Choice of 1.5-Way Adjustable Coilovers

Coilovers generate more cornering grip thanks to their more advanced hardware and technology compared to that of OEM suspension components. Better quality springs; full ride-height adjustability and tuneable valving all give you far more control over handling characteristics and performance of your M2 / M2 Competition.

We have suggested 1.5-Way adjustable coilovers for this package as they offer good performance on the road and track whilst being easy for non-experts to adjust. As these coilovers feature combined bump and rebound adjustment controlled via a single adjuster they are much easier to setup for different circuits as the adjuster gives you the simple option of ‘stiffer’ or ‘softer’.

For smoother, modern circuits such as Donington or Silverstone you can adjust the dampers for increased stiffness which helps to improve cornering grip and body control. For bumpier circuits such as Oulton Park and the Nürburgring, or the public road, you can adjust the dampers to be more supple to reduce deflection over bumps and ensure your BMW’s tyres remain in contact with the tarmac at all times.

For Handling Pack 5 (Clubsport) we recommend the following coilovers:

Nitron R1
Nitron R1s are 1.5-Way adjustable coilovers with a single adjuster that changes the bump and rebound characteristics of the dampers simultaneously. This gives you more control over how your M2 / M2 Competition behaves and responds during high speed driving.

Nitron dampers use nitrogen gas alongside traditional damper fluid to improve performance. The nitrogen gas is virtually frictionless allowing it to respond more quickly and accurately to the movements of the spring and piston, ensuring precision performance and feedback for the driver.

Nitron R1s come with their own camber plates. These camber plates offer full camber and caster adjustability, which gives you more options for tweaking and improving the geometry.

Nitron R1s feature full ride-height adjustability which will allow your BMW M2 / M2 Competition to be corner-weighted and other dynamic factors such as rake angle can be applied.

PLEASE NOTE – We have a strong working relationship with Nitron Racing and as a result we can spec custom spring rates and custom internal valving to ensure you, our customers, receive the best possible performance for your needs.

Öhlins Road and Track
Öhlins Road and Track coilovers are 1.5-Way adjustable coilovers featuring adjustable bump and rebound characteristics that controlled with a single adjuster knob.

Öhlins Dual-Flow Valve (DFV) technology ensures the damper oil inside the damper can flow freely through the internal valves at the same rate during both the bump and rebound stroke. This ensures your BMW M2 / M2 Competition’s wheels remain in contact with the road over bumps, resulting in increased stability and grip.

Öhlins Road and Track coilovers do not come with their own top mounts but they are fully compatible with our Suspension Secrets Camber Plates which also feature full caster adjustability. This means you can exploit the benefits of the improved Öhlins coilovers whilst also benefitting from camber and caster.

Öhlins Road and Track coilovers feature full ride-height adjustability, which allows corner-weighting setups to be applied and for positive rake angle to be set into the chassis for improved braking stability and turn-in.

MOTON 1-Way
MOTON 1-Way coilovers make use all the expertise from MOTON’s decades in top-flight international motorsport to provide an incredibly reliable, high-performance coilover unit. The MOTON 1-Way coilover system is a 1.5-Way adjustable kit with single knob that controls both the bump and rebound characteristics of the damper.

Decades of endurance racing success ensures MOTON 1-Ways are more than capable of handling the most intense track day usage. Endurance-spec damper and piston shafts alongside advanced internal valving ensure consistent and accurate performance and feedback on the track and the road.

MOTON 1-Way coilovers feature their own camber plates, giving you full control over the camber angles on your M2 / M2 Competition, allowing you to improve cornering performance even further.

MOTON 1-Ways are fully ride-height adjustable, giving you access to corner-weighting setups and other dynamic improvements such as positive rake angle.

Suspension Secrets Adjustable Front and Rear Drop Links

Our Suspension Secrets Adjustable Front and Rear Drop Links help to reset the position of the anti-roll bars after adjusting the ride height of your M2 / M2 Competition. Adjustable drop links help to prevent any unwanted tension being held in the anti-roll bars, ensuring even handling.

Adjustable drop links are particularly useful when corner weighting as the lengths can be individually adjusted to suit the very slight differences in ride height as a result of corner weighting.

Suspension Secrets Adjustable Rear Toe Arms

Our Suspension Secrets Adjustable Rear Toe Arms give you complete control over the toe angles of your M2 / M2 Competition.

As Handling Pack 5 (Clubsport) is geared towards track day usage, moderate to high amounts of front camber are desirable. In order not to introduce snap-oversteer, more rear camber is required. The issue with the M2 / M2 Competition is that once the stock rear camber adjustment is at is maximum, the standard rear toe arms lack the range of adjustment to set the correct toe angle.

As our Suspension Secrets Adjustable Rear Toe Arms have a far greater range of adjustment, you can use the maximum rear camber available with the OEM camber arms whilst also achieving the correct toe angle.

Unlike the rubber-bushed original BMW toe arms, our solidly mounted toe arms do not flex during heaving cornering or acceleration, ensuring your M2 / M2 Competition is more stable and planted especially during corner exit.

Eibach Upgraded Front and Rear Anti-Roll Bars

The additional chassis stiffness created by thicker front and rear anti roll bars is important for improving on-track cornering performance. The improved body control created by the front and rear anti-roll bars ensures the suspension is more able to generate grip as opposed to managing the mass of the car.

Stiffer anti-roll bars also ensures the tyres remain in contact with the tarmac at all times and that the cornering forces of the car are more evenly distributed front-to-rear instead of placing stress on one single tyre.

Importantly, anti-roll bars do no compromise ride comfort, which means you can install them and benefit from their performance benefits whilst not having to compromise on ride comfort.

Suspension Secrets Solid Front Control Arm Bushes

Suspension Secrets Solid Front Control Arm Bushes ensure your steering remains accurate during cornering, helping you to place your M2 / M2 Competition more accurately in the corner. Solid bushes help to improve braking stability and to reduce understeer as they do not flex during cornering or braking compared to the original rubber BMW bushes.

Full Corner Weighting and Alignment

With coilovers, camber plates, drop links and toe arms fitted we can look to apply a much more comprehensive geometry setup to your M2 / M2 Competition.

The full-ride height adjustability of the coilovers will allow us to corner weight your BMW. Corner weighting involves adjusting the ride heights of your M2 / M2 Competition at each of the four wheels as to balance the mass of the car and driver evenly across all four tyres. In return you gain greatly improved cornering as well as increased traction and braking stability.

We will also lower your ride height to help reduce body roll and nosediving during heavy braking. We set positive rake into the chassis, by lowering the front ride height slightly more than the rear. As a result you gain increased braking stability and more positive turn-in.
