We are proud to announce that Suspension Secrets is now the title sponsor of the Vision Motorsport Engineering Novice Racing Driver Competition. It is very rare within Motorsport for an opportunity to come along that allows someone with potential, but without the funding, to compete in a full race series. However, with this competition, all you need for your chance to have a fully funded season in a very competitive championship is £250.
This buys you the ticket to compete against the other entrants for your chance to race in a fully funded season in the Clubman’s Sports Prototype Series.
We at Suspension Secrets support the ethos of giving everyone a fair chance at competing and aim to break the age old barriers down within Motorsport that relate to having more money equals more race wins. We do this by offering information and advice on suspension and set up to help give all racers the edge when out on circuit. Therefore, we couldn’t help but get in contact with the guys at Vision Motorsport Engineering when we saw their competition advertised and get involved due to this competition being a great way to give talented drivers the chance to compete on a high level regardless of financial backing.
The Clubman’s Sports Prototype cars compete all across the UK in the Clubman’s Sports Prototype Series which has been running for over 50 years. Vision Motorsport Engineering are offering a fully funded season of racing in the CSP2 class in one of their 3 impeccably prepared cars.
The CPS2 cars have a 1600cc sealed Rover K Series engine, with a 4 speed H pattern gearbox. They are a lightweight pocket rocket, running on slick tyres and supporting full aero packages making them great fun to drive and compete in with extremely close racing due to the cars being such a similar platform.
The competition involves two simulator stages on Vision Motorsport Engineering’s very own simulator; this is based around an F3 carbon fibre chassis, using a force feedback wheel and hydraulic brakes. It has a full wrap around screen with projector, and will be using R Factor with an F3 car. This F3 car on our simulator was highly developed by a very successful F3 team called ‘Team West Tec’ and is one of the most realistic F3 based simulators around.
The competition will be divided into three main stages:
- Simulator Session – Up to 1 hour of practise on a selected circuit followed by a 10 lap evaluation
- Simulator Session – 30 minutes practise followed by a 5 lap evaluation / feedback after a set up alteration.
- Karting Session – 2 x 20 minute sessions (or similar) with on track evaluation.
The competition is not a knock out basis, all competition entries will compete in all stages listed and the simulator sessions will all be using the same car and circuit combination announced on the day.
The competition is open to novices and race license holders with a minimum age of 15 years old. It’s awarded on a points basis – the highest points total wins. In the event of a tie break, a final simulator session will be run.
Each evaluation is divided into categories which are closely related, consistency vs a set time, lines, vehicle placement and speed. Points are deducted for spins or accidents.
The prize contains the following specifics that the lucky winner can enjoy free of charge for a whole racing season upon winning the competition!
